25 x 23 cm 10" x 9" open bag re-purposed piece of embroidery likely from the sleeve or hem of a dress. Fabric appears to be hand woven cotton, embroidery threads likely cotton, lined with manufactures cotton and grommets added for string handles. Braided string handles stitched on not original or original to re-purposing.Small label on inside "Greece purse with braided handle 16" label "Dorita E Grant 1850" attached with safety pin removed;collected by Mary Eleanor Palin (Nellie) while English governess to Lavria Averof between 1910 and 1927
