18.5 cm x 28.5 cm, 7.2 x 11.2. A photo book gifted to Loula Metro by Grandma Chungranes, as a birthday gift, accompanied by a handwritten note on the inside cover. In the book, there are 31 pages featuring photographs and newspaper articles related to the Metro family, beginning as early as the 1910s. The book was put together between 1935 to 1960. Each page will be described in subsequent paragraphs:The first page includes four photographs, all 10.5 ± 0.5cm x 6.5 ± 0.5 cm (4.1 ± 0.2 x 2.6 ± 0.2). One photograph has fallen out of the page in the top left corner. The photograph in the top center position is of young John Metro. In the top right corner, a photograph shows Orsa Chungranes/Metro holding John Metro. In the bottom left corner, there is a photograph of Loula, George, and John Metro. In the bottom right, there is a family photograph of Orsa, Leonidas, Mary, George, Loula, and John Metro, in addition to an unknown young man. All photographs were taken on the same day in Victoria BC, between 1919 to 1922. The second page includes four photographs, all 10.5 ± 0.5cm x 6.5 ± 0.5 cm (4.1 ± 0.2 x 2.6 ± 0.2). The photograph in the top left corner is of George and Loula Metro. In the bottom left corner, is a photograph of Orsa, Leonidas, Mary, George, Loula, and John Metro, in addition to an unknown young man. Both these photographs were taken on the same day as those on page 1, between 1919 to 1922. In the bottom left corner Is a photograph of Kleanthes, Orsa, Mary, Loula, George, and John Metro on the steps of their home. It was taken between 1920 to 1925. In the top right corner is a photograph of Leonidas, Mary, George and John Metro, alongside four other children, taken between 1920 to 1930. The third page includes three photographs, all 12 ± 0.5cm x 7 ± 0.5cm (4.7 ± 0.2 x 2.7 ± 0.2). All three photographs taken on the same day, outside the Metro residence at 503 Government Street. The leftmost photograph is of Mary and Loula Metro, with John Metro on the steps of the house in the background. The photograph in the center is of John, Leonidas, and Loula Metro. The rightmost photograph is of Loula and John Metro. They were taken between 1920 to 1925.The fourth page includes three photographs, all 11 ± 0.5cm x 7.5 ± 0.5cm (4.3 ± 0.2 x 3 ± 0.2). The photograph in the upper left corner of the page features Mary, Loula, George, and John Metro outside the Robert Burns statue in Beacon Hill Park, between 1920 to 1925. The photograph in the bottom left corner of the page features seven young children, two of which are older girls, on the lawn of an unknown home. The rightmost photograph features John, George, and Loula Metro outside the Metro residence between 1920 to 1925. The fifth page includes three photographs, all 11 ± 0.5cm x 7 ± 0.5cm (4.3 ± 0.2 x 2.7 ± 0.2). The leftmost photograph features John and Loula Metro standing in a garden, during the early 1920s. The center photograph is of four women (one of which is Orsa Metro) in a backyard garden between 1920 to 1930, The rightmost photograph is of John and Loula Metro in the same garden, beside an unknown middle aged man. The sixth page includes three photographs, the top two being 7 x 11.5cm (2.75 x 4.5) and the bottom photograph being 9 x 14.5cm (3.5 x 5.7). In the top left corner is a photograph of Orsa, Mary, and either John or George Metro, along with two other men (one of whom resembles Leonidas Metro). The photograph was taken between 1925 to 1940. In the top left corner, there is a photograph of Orsa, Mary, Loula, and John Metro in their backyard, taken between 1925 to 1935. On the bottom of the page is a photograph of a beach fire, with Mary, John, and George Metro around it, in addition to various other relatives. The seventh page includes two photographs. The photo on the left is 8.75 x 13.75cm (3.5 x 5.4), and the photo on the left is 7.5 x 4cm (3 x 1.6). Both photographs were taken in Port Angeles, 1929, of the newborn baby James Stamateou. The leftmost photograph has had a contributor write James Stamateou in pencil above the photograph. The eighth page includes one photograph that is 11.5cm x 7cm (4.5 x 2.75). Two photographs have fell off the page. The remaining photograph is of two elderly women, one being Orsa Metro. The photograph appears to be taken in Victoria BC, between 1920 to 1940. The ninth page includes three photographs, 7.0 ±0.5cm x 11.5 ± 0.5cm (2.75 ± 0.2 x 4.5 ± 0.2). The photograph in the top left corner is of unknown women standing outside a car during the 1920s. The photograph below is of three women and two young boys outdoors in the 1920s, with Mary and John Metro as the only identifiable figures in the photograph. The photograph on the far right is of Loula and John Metro beside an unknown man outside the Metro family house in Victoria BC, during the 1920s. The tenth page includes three photos with the dimensions of 11.5 x 7cm (4.5 x 2.75), taken on the same day in the early 1920s. The photograph on the left is of Leonidas Metro and the unknown man on the rightmost photograph on the ninth page outside the Metro family house. The center photograph is of Loula, John, and George Metro in the early 1920s in the same location. The third photograph is of the same unknown man in the same location at the Metro house in the early 1920s. The eleventh page includes two photographs with the dimensions of 11.5 x 7cm (4.5 x 2.75), with one in the center missing from the page. The photograph on the left shows Loula and John Metro beside the unknown man on page nine and ten, taken at the same location on the same day in the early 1920s. The photograph on the right of the page is of duplicate of the photograph of Loula, George, and John Metro on page ten. The twelfth page includes two photographs. The photograph on the left is 11 x 7.25 (4.3 x 2.9), and has a large tear in the bottom left corner. The photograph is of Orsa, Mary, George, Loula, and John Metro at the Robert Burns statue in Beacon Hill Park between 1920 to 1925, on the same day as the photograph on page three. The photograph on the right is also taken at the Robert Burns statue, though appears to be a few years older than the former. The photograph includes two individuals, a man in his 30s, and an elderly woman. The thirteenth page includes three photographs, each 11.5 x 7cm (4.3 x 2.9). The photograph on the left features Kleanthes Metro and an unknown man in Victoria BC, between 1920 to 1925. The photograph in the center is heavily faded, though provides enough clarity to determine it was of a woman, taken outside the Metro family home after a winter snowfall in the early 1920s. The photograph on the right of the page is of three figures on the back of a ferry boat, one of which appears to be John Metro. The fourteenth page includes two photographs, with one missing in the top left corner. The leftmost photograph has the dimensions of 9 x 6.5cm (3.5 x 2.6) and is of an unknown woman with Seattle, 1932 written on the top of the photograph. The photograph on the right has the dimensions of 11.5 x 7cm (4.3 x 2.9), and is a duplicate of the photograph of John, George, and Loula Metro on the steps of the Metro family home on page four. The fifteenth page includes three photographs, all of which are 11.5 x 7cm (4.3 x 2.9). The first photograph is of Orsa Chungranes between 1920 to 1940 outside the steps of her home in Victoria BC. The photograph in the center is a heavily faded photograph of Kleanthes Metro outside his home in Victoria BC, between 1920 to 1925. The photograph on the right of the page is of two unknown women, one young and one elderly, taken in Victoria BC in the 1920s. The sixteenth page includes six photographs, all approximately 8.5 x 6.5cm (3.3 x 2.6) and taken between 1920 to 1940. Five of the photographs are of a young girl in the flowers outside a home in Victoria BC, one of which features a middle-aged man in the photograph. In this photograph, a contributor has written Tony and [illegible] baby, possibly referring to Anthony Karachle. In the bottom left corner, there is a photograph of two individuals in front of a hedge, each wearing identical suits. The seventeenth page includes three photographs, each 11.5 x 7cm (3.3 x 2.6) and taken between 1930 to 1940. The photograph in the top left corner is of an infant lying on a blanket on a lawn, next to their stroller. The photograph below it is of a family gathering at an address with the code of 1423. The photograph on the right is of many of the same individuals as the prior photograph, but with slight variations and in the backyard, rather than on the front porch. The eighteenth page includes two photographs. The photograph on the left is 9 x 14.25cm (3.5 x 5.6), and taken in June, 1933. The photograph is of thirteen young adults and children, including Mary and Loula Metro. The photograph on the right is a portrait taken by W.D. Simmonds in Victoria BC, focusing on two identically dressed young boys and a seated young girl, all likely siblings. The photograph is 13.5 x 8.75cm (5.3 x 3.4), and taken between 1920 to 1940. The nineteenth page includes four photographs, each 11.5 x 7cm (3.3 x 2.6) and taken between 1930 to 1940 in Victoria BC.The photograph on the left is of a young mother and baby, while the photograph on the far right is of two men holding the same baby. The bottom photograph is of a baby on a lawn chair outdoors, while the top photograph is of two elderly figures on June 22nd, 1933 The twentieth page includes five photographs, all 9 x 6.35cm (3.5 x 2.5) and taken between 1930 to 1940 in Victoria BC. The photographs are all heavily blurred, but all feature family members on a beach. The photograph in the top and center has July – 1933 written in black ink by an unknown contributor. The twenty-first page includes four photographs. The photograph in the top left corner is 9 x 6.5cm (3.5 x 2.6), and features three young boys and two young men knee-deep in the water on a beach. The photograph was taken in August of 1932, on the same day is the photographs on page 27. The photograph in the top right corner is of a woman seated in a field next to a sheep. The photograph was taken between 1920 to 1940. The photos in the bottom left and right corners are 7 x 11.5cm (2.6 x 3.3), and both taken outside the same house in Victoria BC between 1925 to 1940. The photograph on the left is of two young men who appear to be siblings, and an older man (likely their father). The photograph on the right is of the older man with a young girl, likely his daughter.The twenty-second page includes four photographs, all taken between 1930 to 1940 in Victoria BC . The leftmost photograph is 11.5 x 6.75cm (4.5 x 2.65), and features a man and woman standing outside a car with a child in it. The photograph on the top is 9 x 6.5cm (3.5 x 2.6), and features an elderly woman and elderly man beside a small child outdoors. The photograph on the bottom is a family photo with members of the Alexis, and Metro families (among others), outdoors in a grassy field. The dimensions of the photograph are 8 x 6.5cm (3.1 x 2.6). The leftmost photograph is 9 x 6.5cm (3.5 x 2.6), and features the same elderly man seen on the bottom photographs on page 21 sitting beside two young women, in July 1933.The twenty-third page includes four photographs all taken between 1930 to 1940. The top left photograph is 4.25 x 3cm (1.65 x 1.2), and is a portrait of a toddler seated of a decorative cushion. The photograph below it is 11.5 x 7cm (4.5 x 2.75), and is of five elderly women, two young women, and a child outdoors on June 22nd, 1933. The next photograph is 11.5 x 7cm (4.5 x 2.75), and features a young girl outdoors on June 22nd, 1933. The rightmost photograph is 12 x 7.25cm (4.7 x 2.9), and features a mother holding her child on a rocky beach. The twenty-fourth page includes one photograph that is 11.5 x 17cm (4.5 x 6.7), taken between 1930 to 1940 in Victoria BC. The photograph is of a large group of young women on the steps of a large, stone building. It appears that there is a woman resembling Loula Metro in the 2nd row from the top, one left from the right side of the staircase. The twenty-fifth page includes four photographs, all taken between 1930 to 1940 in Victoria BC. The leftmost photograph is 9 x 6.25cm (3.5 x 2.5), and features six men (including Leonidas Metro) standing outside a small cabin home. The uppermost photograph is 6.25 x 9cm (2.5 x 3.5) and includes five individuals, two of which are Orsa Metro and Maria Vienna Chungranes. A contributor has written August 1933 on the top of the photograph. The bottom photograph is 7 x 10.5cm (2.75 x 4.1), and features four men standing on the back porch of a home, and four women seated on the staircase in front of them. The rightmost photograph is 9 x 6.5cm (3.5 x 2.6), and has July 1933 written on it. The photograph displays two young women holding a young girl on a beach.The twenty-sixth page includes one photograph on the left side of the page, and is missing a photograph that has fallen out on the right side of the page. The remaining photograph is 14.5 x 9cm (5.7 x 3.5), and features three women outdoors, one of which is Orsa Metro. The photograph was taken on June 26th, 1933, which has been written in pen on the top of the photograph by a contributor. The twenty-seventh page includes two photographs with the dimensions of 6.75 x 11.5cm (2.65 x 4.5). Both photographs are of an extended family resting on a log on a beach in Victoria BC. Mary, Loula, and George Metro appear in both photographs, and others are likely siblings and/or cousins. Aug – 1932 is written in ink by a contributor on both of the photographs, and the similar outfits and groups suggest that the photographs were taken on the same day. There is one photograph missing on the right side of the page. The twenty-eighth page includes three photographs, all of which are 11.5 x 7cm (4.5 x 2.75). The leftmost photograph is of a middle-aged man holding an infant outside a garage. The center photograph is of a woman whose face is obscured by low-setting hat, standing outside the Metro family residence in Victoria BC. The woman is likely to be Mary Metro. The rightmost photograph is of a woman standing on a patch of grass outside a barn, at an unknown location. All photographs were taken between 1930 to 1940. The twenty-ninth page includes two photographs, and an empty spot where a third photograph has fallen out. The photograph on the left of the page is of four individuals (two men and two women) outside the Metro family residence, on the porch above the stairs between 1930 to 1940. The dimensions of this photograph are 14.5 x 9cm (5.7 x 3.5). The rightmost photograph is 7x 11.5cm (2.75 x 4.5), and features a family gathering outdoors, with the foreground being three men standing next to a group of huddled women. On the top of the photograph, a contributor has written June 1933.The thirtieth page includes two photographs that are 11.5 x 7cm (4.5 x 2.75), and an empty spot where a third photograph has fallen out. The photograph on the top of the page is a family photograph of eight young girls and the unknown man on page nine. In this photograph, Loula Metro 1st from the left in the back row, while Mary Metro is the 1st from the left on the bottom (seated) row. A contributor has written June 1933 on the top of the photograph. The photograph on the bottom of the page is of four closely related men, a young woman (resembling Loula Metro), and a young girl. A contributor has written June 22 1933 on the top of the photograph. The thirty-first page includes a newspaper article cut into two columns, the one on the left being 15 x 5cm (5.9 x 2), and the column to the right being 7.5 x 5cm (3 x 2). The newspaper was printed by an unknown publisher based out of British Columbia between 1935 to 1937, and the article is titled Masters Wife on Greek Ship: Ss. Delphoi Arrives Here for Lumber and Capt. and Mrs. Lemos Look Over Victoria. 15 x 5 (left), 7.5 x 5 (right)
